The Flemish government has decided to make an asbestos certificate mandatory when selling a house from November 2022. But what exactly does an asbestos certificate look like when selling a house?

This lists the places where asbestos is present, which materials or parts of your home contain asbestos and what the condition of the asbestos is. Maximum periods will also be stated in the certificate by which the asbestos should be removed. An asbestos certificate can be drawn up for every house when selling a house. It is not the case that a certificate is only drawn up if there is no asbestos. It is always made up. If there is no asbestos, the inventory is blank. If there is asbestos, the asbestos certificate will indicate which asbestos is present where.
By 2032, every owner will have to have an asbestos certificate.
When renting, the owner will have to provide the tenants with a copy of this certificate.
