Certificate of asbestos removal
The asbestos office can draw up an asbestos inventory for you after you have removed asbestos.
Some will call this an asbestos removal certificate, but in principle it is just an asbestos inventory that is blank due to the absence of asbestos.
According to the private asbestos removal legislation, you may remove some asbestos applications yourself as a private person or have them removed by a contractor who has a diploma in “simple actions”. But a non-adhesive certificate cannot be removed yourself and must always be removed by a recognized asbestos remover. It is best to read the asbestos removal private legislation again. Afterwards you can also have a blank asbestos inventory or certificate of asbestos removal drawn up.
In principle, as long as the asbestos is not exposed or damaged, it is not mandatory to remove asbestos, but it is still a good idea to remove asbestos and obtain an asbestos removal certificate or blank asbestos inventory. After all, private asbestos removal legislation states that harmful asbestos fibers that come loose pose a major health risk.
In addition, the Flemish government wants to make Flanders asbestos-safe by 2040.
